Australia increases PR immigration target from 160,000 to 195,000 for 2022-23
An announcement was made by the Australian Government on Friday that the number of permanent immigrants has been increased by 35,000. The immigration target has increased from 160,000 to 195,000 in the current financial year.
Interior Minister O’Neil made the announcement of a pay increase for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2023. The announcement was made during a two-day summit, during There were 140 representatives from different authorities participating. These authorities include government, business, trade unions and industry.
Australia faces labor shortage challenge
The Minister of Home Affairs said there was a shortage of nurses and those available had to work 2/3 shifts. Flights were canceled due to lack of ground staff. The minister said that the first focus has been on Australian jobs. The conference focused on training new employees along with women’s participation.
The minister also added that, even taking into account all possibilities, there will still be a shortage of labor. The minister said that because of the complexity of immigration rules, applicants are emigrating to other countries.
Anthony Albanese announced that 180,000 seats will be left for educational schools next year and its cost will be AU$1.10 bn. This will help minimize the skills shortage needed by the labor market.
